LAST Saturday evening Port Alfred Round Table 177 in association with Sunshine Coast Hospice held their annual dinner and dance 101 evening at the Royal St Andrews Hotel in a glitz and glamour evening themed Casino Royale.
The 101 evening is fast becoming the social elite event of the year with locals embracing the opportunity to put their best foot forward in glitzy evening wear and black tie.
Round Table vice president Frikkie Coetzee organised the flashy affair and managed to pull out all the stops for the fundraiser. Peter Charter was the auctioneer and auctioned off a variety of sought after items which managed to raise R30 900 just in auction items.
Coetzee said the event was a lot better supported than last year, the food was exceptional and the venue was great.
“Everyone enjoyed themselves and kept the party going well after midnight,” Coetzee said. Peter Drennan provided live music which kept the dance floor full and the atmosphere in high spirits.
“All in all it was a very successful night,” Coetzee said.
Some of the auction items included a Sibuya boat ride, lunch and game drive, and Ocean game drive and lunch accommodation at Huntshoek for four people for four nights which fetched a value of R8 200, accommodation for two at Pearl Valley, a stay at Bucklands Game Reserve, Andrew Elliott photographic package, a shoulder and fish mount from Wild Africa Taxidermy and Fishtech Taxidermy, a work bench from Buco, a printer and installation from Serene IT, alarm installation from MultiSecurity, sculpture lessons and much more.
