Boy’s birthday wish saw him donating his cash to charity
WHEN asking most 11-year-olds what they would want for their birthday, parents and family usually prepare themselves for the latest gadget, a console game, a bicycle or even money.
But not Samuel Loubser – all he wanted for his birthday was to donate all his birthday and pocket money to an animal charity.
When he arrived in Port Alfred from Cape Town, with dad Dion and little brother Beau, he was taken with the Chipembere Rhino Foundation, and decided to donate his money to the organisation. Samuel has always had a passion for animals, especially wildlife, and after living in Perth, Australia, for several years, was happy to be back.
His favourite animals include gharial (part of the crocodile family), mountain zebra and guinea pigs.
While in Port Alfred, Samuel was looking forward to doing the Assegaai trails with his family and hoped to see some wildlife.
He aspires to open a pet shop when he is finished school, which he will use to fund many more charity drives and animal awareness programmes, as well as his studies in either palaeontology or zoology.
