THE sportsperson of the Year was announced at the Port Alfred Country Club’s AGM recently, and Chris Pike was awarded the honour for his hard work in promoting sport in the area.

Pike is from the club’s hockey section, but has also participated in many of the cross-country and road-running events held around the area. The runner-up was Richard Legg, from the Kowie Striders section.

The Port Alfred Country Club offers hockey, cricket, running/walking and pigeon racing, and also has an active social section, with full bar facilities, and is open daily from 5pm until late.

The new office bearers for 2016 are chairman James Fox, vice chairman Chris Pike, secretary Avril Beyleveld and treasurer Sonai Owsley. “Come and enjoy your sport and social activities at a safe environment at the Port Alfred Country Club,” Fox said.
