Top anglers picked to represent their province, country
THE Port Alfred Rock and Surf section once again excelled at the annual Eastern Province prizegiving on May 28, with the highlight of the evening the EP teams being announced for next year.
For the EP under-16 team, the captain is Scott Knight and manager is Andrew Bartlett. Joining the EP U21 team is Ross Bartlett, who is also in the Protea U21 side going to Namibia. Murray Keeton is a reserve. Melissa du Randt is in the EP ladies and also in the Protea ladies’ side going to Namibia. Darian Keeton will captain the EP Masters and is in the Protea Masters side going to Namibia. Greg Baxter is on the EP A team, with Darian Keeton as manager.
The Port Alfred U16 side of Scott Knight and Murray Keeton won EP U16 team event. Murray has been the top EP U16 angler for three years, and Scott was third.
The Port Alfred U21 side of Ross Bartlett, Ben Keeton and Mark Bartlett won the EP U21 team event. Ross was the top EP U21 angler.
Melissa du Randt was named top lady angler and most improved achiever for EP.
The Port Alfred A team came fifth in the team event. EP Angling Week prizes PA A angling team: Ben Keeton, Ross Bartlett, Murray Keeton and Mark Bartlett won the edible species trophy for the team with the most weight at 90kg.
PA B team: Darian Keeton, Andrew Bartlett, Terry Stewart and Josh Timm were runners-up with 89kg.
Murray Keeton: top junior and runner-up as individual in senior division – 36kg. Darian Keeton: top weight in senior division – 47 kg.
