Call to fund cameras at crime hot spots

A SPECIAL open meeting on crime concerns in Port Alfred drew a bigger turnout than regular meetings of the Community Policing Forum last Thursday.

Sergeant Cindy Pienaar of the Port Alfred SAPS said the police had asked for a meeting to discuss escalating crime in Port Alfred.

One of the major themes was the use of cameras in preventing crime, especially at Port Alfred’s crime hotspots.

Sergeant Vincent Plaatjies spoke about his role in analysing such hotspots.
