IT WAS reported at the Ward 10 Committee meeting that a ratepayer, Peter Bassett, had studied the Valuation Roll and had listed approximately 500 properties that have no valuations and hundreds that have no owners!
I understand he will be discussing these and other issues with Mr Klaas of the finance department.
In my opinion this was the item of greatest importance presented at the meeting, but ratepayers have not been made aware of it.
Who is responsible for the valuation roll being in such a mess and how much revenue has been lost in the last five years as a result of this?
I do hope the mayor will report to the public on this at the Mayoral Imbizo next Wednesday February 22.
