NEARLY R8 000 was generated at the Rotary Swimarathon last Saturday, a fundraiser for PolioPlus at the Port Alfred High School pool which saw teams compete in an endurance swim for charity.
What better way to spend a warm afternoon than cooling off in a pool? The Rotary Swimarathon however was anything but relaxing with 12 teams of six swimmers competing in lengths for 40 minute heats, swimming as many laps as possible.
The Port Alfred NSRI station has dominated the swimming for three years in a row but was beaten by a very competitive team from PAHS.
“A great day was had by all who participated in Rotary’s annual Swimarathon at PAHS,” president of Rotary Port Alfred Dave Hawkins said.
