ONE of Ndlambe’s most consistent runners, Carriot Galela, will be racing in the Two Oceans Marathon on Saturday April 15, and says he is looking forward to the experience.
Galela qualified to run based on the excellent time of three hours and three seconds he achieved in the recent Buffs Marathon in East London.
The 48th consecutive Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon is one of South Africa’s most prestigious ultra marathons and is attended by athletes from around the world. This year the course will remain on the traditional route via Chapman’s Peak, Hout Bay and Constantia Nek, unless deemed unsafe by authorities – in which case the Ou Kaapse Weg route used prior to 2004 will be used.
Although Galela has a bus ticket to get him to the race, he is still short of accommodation for the weekend.
“I would appreciate if someone could offer me a place to stay before and after the race in the Cape Town area, hopefully not too far from the start of the race,” he said.
If you are able to offer any assistance to Galela, please contact him on 073-016-1079.
