Bathurst Show Supplement

IT’S all systems go at the Bathurst Showgrounds as staff and volunteers have finalised their arrangements to make certain everything is in tip-top condition for the Bathurst Agricultural Show, which begins today (Friday 31 March) and continues through the weekend until Sunday.

The weekend kicks of today with equestrian events in the main arena before the floodgates open allowing thousands of people to take part in the myriad of events taking place.

With plenty of stalls selling a variety of locally crafted items, along with food and drinks plus the two pubs, a play area for the kids and lots of events to entertain, Bathurst Agricultural Show is the place to be this weekend.

The show is the Eastern Cape’s largest of its kind and closes late on Sunday afternoon. This year marks the 109th show, and continues the legacy of an agricultural event that began on March 6, 1850. This means the show has been in operation, on and off, for 167 years.

Entrance will cost R60 for adults and R40 for pensioners. Students and pupils pay R20 a day. A pass for all three days will cost R100 per adult, R70 for pensioners and students and pupils R50. Children under six are free.
