Siza Fit half marathon attracts some of SA’s top runners

Nearly a thousand runners gathered for the third Siza Fit half marathon and five km fun run this morning. Event organiser, Noluthando Vithi, said they were thrilled that the event has grown and has increased in numbers.

The 21km which sees runners tackle a moderate to difficult course showcases Port Alfred at its best. The course took runners through Nemato, Station Hill, Port Alfred CBD as well as onto scenic roads near the ocean.

“For us its import to unify everyone, getting our locals involved, the kids, the schools and showing everything and all parts of Port Alfred, ” said Vithi.

This year, Siza Fit has attracted some of the top runners in the country who competed for R198 000 in prize money. First place ladies, and first men’s each received R15 000 as the top finishers.
