CONVICTED rapist Siyabulela Fani, aged 29, will spend the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of the rape of a 13-year-old girl in July 2015 and sentenced to two life sentences plus an additional three years imprisonment in the Bhisho High on Friday April 28.

In the same court in 2016, Fani was released from a charge due to insufficient evidence while his co-accused, Thembinkosi Bhengu, aged 32, was sentenced to 42 years imprisonment.

The court heard how the young female victim was visiting her grandmother in Peddie when she was approached by five males. Two took her to nearby bushes by force and raped her at knifepoint, and thereafter took her to the home of the first accused where they continued to rape her.

On the arrival of the other three accused,  the victim managed to escape. During the trial, all four males testified in court, three of them as state witnesses.
