PORT ELIZABETH – Samuel Banzana (54), a General Manager for a Development Trust, was sentenced to 12-year-imprisonment before the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crime court for corruption amounting to R3 million.
As a manager of Mzingisi Development Trust, Banzana solicited bribes to award building contracts for hundreds of houses in Port Elizabeth. This crime was conducted between the years 2004 and 2011.
Banzana used the money to settle his house and vehicle debts.
The Serious Commercial Crime unit of the Hawks started to investigate Banzana’s activities during November 2011. He was found guilty before the same court on March 23 2017.
