Kingswood junior girls water polo players display true grit

THE Kingswood U13A water polo girls recently returned from their tour to the Western Cape.

THE Kingswood U13A water polo girls’ team, back from left, Taya Williamson, Lunga Nhanga, Ophola Bulane, Megan Van Wyk, Kayleigh Mildenhall, Molly Francis, Amy Hobson, Triscia Vassilleou, Lauren Maddox, and front, Jenna Gadd, Amy Wilson, Sihle Ngumbela and Lara Sheard

Before taking part in the Reddam House Tournament, the Kingswood team stopped over in George en route to Cape Town to play against both Glenwood House and Oakhill. While both games were tough, they served their intended purpose extremely well as ideal preparation for the Reddam House Tournament.

Once at the Reddam Tournament, the Kingswood side slowly gained momentum and started playing some gutsy and purposeful water polo. Kingswood eventually ended in 6th/12 position with the highlights being the two victories over Roedean from Johannesburg (pool and play-off matches) and very tightly contested 6-6 draw against Clarendon from East London.

In true Kingswood fashion, the girls again displayed some genuine grit and determination throughout the tournament. The team went from strength to strength and will continue to progress as an efficient water polo unit as they mature. On the lighter side of things, on their ‘off’ day, the girls were pleased to have the opportunity of going to Rush Trampoline Park, where all had lots of fun!
