The official launch of the Amanzi Festival attracted a huge turnout of politicians, sports people and tourism experts on Friday evening at the Royal St Andrews Hotel.
Guest speaker and tourism expert, Peter Myles, promised to promote the Sunshine Coast in a speech about sports tourism in Port Alfred.
He quoted Nelson Mandela at the Fifa World Cup in Port Elizabeth in 1995 who famously said: “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else can.”
“Ncinga means match stick in Xhosa, ignite, fire and boom!” said Sxeaks Nkwinti co-creator with Dave Lawson of Ncinga Enterprises, the company which invented the Amanzi Festival.
The only thing holding back water sports tourism, is the pollution of the ocean, said Myles.
