Last week’s open executive committee meeting was a hurried affair where councillor Ray Schenk stood in for the mayor who was finishing his round of mayoral imbizos before the end of June deadline and the end of the 2018/2019 financial year.
In fact, only councillors Schenk, Thembani Mazana and Nosicelo Xhasa were present and appeared to rush through the agenda with little or no comment on its contents.
Comment was made, however, on the water interruptions that began on June 19 in Wards 3 and 4, the effects of which were still being experienced on Thursday June 20. According to those present at the exco meeting, the communications office had failed to inform residents in time, and this would be dealt with.
Schenk also made an observation that the debt carried by Ndlambe regarding the non-payment of rates and other services was unacceptable and that the municipality must consider attaching property should this situation continue.
