South Africa had 18,000 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 28,469 deaths to date from a total of 1,057,161 confirmed positive cases with 170,687 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 879,671 recoveries.
With 287,018 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
