South Africa had 8,147 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize. There have been a total of 40,874 deaths to date from a total of 1,412,986 confirmed positive cases with 190,402 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 1,230,520 recoveries. With 380,381 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
