OUR sincere appreciation goes out to our loyal and big-hearted community members for their phenomenal support for the Hospice Stride with Pride Golf Day and Beach Walk, which brought in R109 081.73!
We thank our main sponsor GBS Mutual Bank for their massive contribution of R60 000 (for the third year running) as well as each of our other 69 sponsors! The number of sponsors indicates the heart the community has for Hospice and for the work we do. We are touched and encouraged by the way in which individuals and businesses have “come to the party” and have gone the “extra mile” in support of our cause.
An enormous amount of hard work and planning goes into events such as these and we thank Cathy Braans PR for her dedication and passion for Hospice as she has once again searched far and wide to secure prizes and sponsorship which undoubtedly contributed hugely to the success of the events. The golf competition was a tremendous success with a field of 96 golfers and 180 guests attending the dinner while 104 faithful Hospice supporters took on the challenge of the beach walk despite the gusty wind.
We also thank the management and staff of the Royal Port Alfred Golf Club for co-ordinating an excellent competition and hosting an outstanding dinner. Special thanks to our celebrity guest, Pat Symcox, for his delightful and entertaining talk which culminated in a poignant moment where guests were invited to stand if their lives had been affected by cancer. It is often as a result of personal experiences that many people and businesses have become involved with Hospice and have given of their time and expertise to ease the lives of others.
Special mention is made of our fabulous volunteers who promoted and supported this fundraising endeavour. You know who you are! We salute you!
