A number of minibus taxis blockaded part of the Jester Mall (Post Office parking lot) in Port Alfred this afternoon. None of the drivers were willing to speak to Talk of the Town, but security staff observing the scene said there was a disagreement between taxi drivers who use the taxi rank in Biscay Road and others who avoid abiding by the rules and pick up passengers in the Post Office parking lot, thus “stealing” customers. Cars were still able to drive one-way through the parking lot. Only the lane past the Post Office was blocked. No police attended in the 20 minutes TotT was on the scene. An hour later the blockade was still in place.
