LILIZELA TOURISM AWARD FOR BEST FOUR STAR HOTEL IN THE EASTERN CAPE WON FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR BY THE ROYAL ST ANDREWS HOTEL, LOCATED IN PORT ALFRED, SUNSHINE COAST, SOUTH AFRICA
For the third year in a row, the Royal St Andrews Hotel in Port Alfred was announced as the top 4 Star hotel in the Eastern Cape. The announcement was made at the 2019 Lilizela Awards held at Dan’s Country Lodge, Mthatha, Eastern Cape on Thursday evening, 19 September 2019.
The Lilizela Tourism Award is the Oscar of hospitality awards in South Africa. The award is mainly consumer-based, with 80% of scoring coming directly from consumer reviews and consumer feedback on various platforms. These include votes on the Lilizela Tourism Awards website and scores on TripAdvisor, which are received directly from guests upon departure.
Royal St Andrews Hotel owners, Martin, and Linda Bekker and management are proud of this repeated recognition by the market and by the hotel’s much-valued guests. The Lilizela award recognises this significant investment in the region, that has delivered world-class accommodation and facilities to local and international guests.

The reward also recognises the deep level of passion and commitment of general Manager Difford Louw and the Team, who unwaveringly ensure that every guest experience is magnificent, driven by the Royal St Andrews Hotel brand promise; Gracious Hospitality.
Royal St Andrews Hotel owners Martin and Linda Bekker are most pleased that the award again recognises and supports a greater and longer-term dream that Martin Bekker has for the Port Alfred area, its economy, and its people: “My dream is to expose as many people to Port Alfred as possible, contributing to a change in perception, turning the area into a destination and not a “pass-through” or a little spot on the map.”
