The Ndlambe Municipality’s LED (Local Economic Development) department recently arranged for SYLG Creations from East London to transfer skills to six local women to make beadwork jewellery.
“We are creating traditional jewellery, but with a modern Twist,” said trainer and owner of SYLG Creations, Yolanda Ginya.
“We are transferring skills to these ladies so learn how to make beaded jewellery that they can sell at the local markets.”
The women are from Ekuphumleni, and attended training at the Kenton Town Hall last Friday. Training began on Monday February 17 and ended on Friday February 20.
The women told TotT they were pleased with the items they were making and happy that they now had a new skill that could bring in a little extra money.
