Swimmers are preparing for Saturday April 11 to participate in the Marina Mile swim, just one of the events in the 2020 Royal St Andrews Hotel Amanzi Challenge that takes place from April 10 to 19.
The Marina Mile is a swim along the Kowie River and is a traditional event now made even more popular as part of South Africa’s premier waters-sport events, The RSAH Amanzi Challenge; nine days of coastal fun and competition including a trail run, stand-up paddling, body boarding, Jet Ski races, SA Handball, rubber ducks (inflatable boats), and an international World Surfing League event.
The Marina Mile is the second event taking place and is open to all to participate. It begins at the Halyards Hotel where registration will take place between 12 noon and 2pm. There will be a compulsory briefing at 2.30pm and the first category of swimmers will start at 3pm.
There are five age categories and each has its own entrance fee.
Ages 12 to 18 years will cost R80 per person, ages 19 to 29-years R100, ages 30 to 49-years R100, 50+ is also R100 and 60+ is R80 (those o60 or over will need to produce an ID document). Each swimmer will require a compulsory colour-coded branded swim cap at R30 each.
