South Africa had 1,712 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 19,585 deaths to date from a total of 730,548 confirmed positive cases with 98,622 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 660,185 recoveries.
With 229,490 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
