South Africa had 1,987 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 20,433 deaths to date from a total of 754,256 confirmed positive cases with 110,312 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 696,820 recoveries.
With 231,860 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
