South Africa had 2,888 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 20,556 deaths to date from a total of 757,144 confirmed positive cases with 112,018 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 701,534 recoveries.
With 232,147 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
