South Africa had 8,166 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 22,747 deaths to date from a total of 821,889 confirmed positive cases with 142,834 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 756,671 recoveries.
With 241,495 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
