South Africa had 5,163 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 23,451 deaths to date from a total of 866,127 confirmed positive cases with 149,510 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 762,746 recoveries.
With 246,116 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
