South Africa had 8,725 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 24,285 deaths to date from a total of 901,538 confirmed positive cases with 155,873 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 783,818 recoveries.
With 252,390 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
