South Africa had 8,789 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 24,907 deaths to date from a total of 930,711 confirmed positive cases with 159,767 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 796,346 recoveries.
With 258,202 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
