South Africa had 2,649 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 44,946 deaths to date from a total of 1,458,958 confirmed positive cases with 192,182 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 1,318,504 recoveries.
With 309,841 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
