Russian runner races ’round the world

Russian, Ruslan Shakin is a legend, having run across Japan, from the North to the South of New Zealand, through the Australian desert, raced from Argentina to Chile and is currently running from Cape Town to Durban where he will end his visit to South Africa by competing in the Comrades Marathon.

His latest venture, Run Across South Africa is in aid of water for Afric, an important cause for all Africans as drought is a very real problem (as we are even experiencing here in the Eastern Cape).

Shakin took time to answer questions from the Striders present and had a beer or two to celebrate another day of running.

See next week’s Talk of the Town for more on his story.
