South Africa had 17,710 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 28,033 deaths to date from a total of 1,039,161 confirmed positive cases with 169,363 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 867,597 recoveries.
With 282,642 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
