THE South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) would like to notify travellers that the N2 between Grahamstown and Peddie will be closed due to beam launching for the widening of the Great Fish River Bridge.
The work is scheduled to take place on the N2 Section 13, Grahamstown and Peddie, about 50km from Grahamstown and 18km from Peddie.
An alternative route for motorists is the R72 via Port Alfred.
The road will be closed on the following days:
- Tuesday January 24: There will be road closures on four separate occasions during the day with an expected delay of one hour per occurrence. The road closures are from 8am until 9am; 10am until 11am; 12pm until 1pm; and 2pm until 3pm.
- Wednesday January 25: The road will be closed on one occasion during the morning with an expected delay of one hour and two occasions during the afternoon with an expected delay of two hours. The road will be closed from 8am until 9am; 11am until 1pm and 2pm until 4pm.
- Thursday January 26: The road will be closed on one occasion during the morning with an expected delay of two hours and two occasions during the afternoon with an expected delay of two hours. The road will be closed from 8am until 10am; 11 am until 1pm; and 2pm until 4pm.
- Friday January 27: The road will be closed from 8am until 10am with an expected delay of two hours.
“Motorists are asked to travel with caution and to plan their trips accordingly,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region manager.
