Road closure for widening of Great Fish River Bridge in the Eastern Cape

Date:

THE South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) would like to notify travellers that due to strong winds there will be additional road closures tomorrow, Friday January 27, on the N2 between Grahamstown and Peddie for the beam launching to widen the Great Fish River Bridge.

Due to heavy wind this afternoon the work is being postponed. The work is scheduled to take place on the N2 Section 13, between Grahamstown and Peddie, about 50km from Grahamstown and 18km from Peddie.

An alternative route for motorists is the R72 via Port Alfred.

The road will be closed tomorrow between 5.30am and 2pm on three separate occasions. Each closure will be approximately one-and-a-half hours.

“Motorists are asked to travel with caution and to plan their trips accordingly,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region manager.
