MultiSecurity has seen an increase in incidents over the past week, with many of the reports indicating drunk and disorderly behaviour, reckless driving, theft and harassment.
- Last Thursday a MultiSecurity client in Hordean Street reported a break-in. The client said that he had guests on the premises for the night so he only armed alarm for the workshop and garage. Burglars gained entry by taking the front sliding door off the rail. They forced opened the door and stole a TV.
- A fire broke out at Buco in Albany Rad later on Thursday evening. A MultiSecurity reaction officer reported that a control fitting in the roof caught fire and was under control.
- At the same in Albany Road, an accident occurred involving a truck and four vehicles. The truck was going uphill and suddenly applied breaks. Four vehicles rear-ended each other behind the truck.
- MultiSecurity reported another truck stuck on Albany Road on Friday for most of the day.
- On Friday evening cattle were reported in Bank Lane.
- On Friday evening, a MultiSecurity reaction officer reported that a woman had fallen at Putt Bridge and requested the state ambulance. The reaction officer also reported that the woman was intoxicated. SAPS arrived and took the injured woman to Port Alfred Hospital when the ambulance didn’t arrive.
- A client in Broadway Street reported barking dogs and suspicious noises on Saturday morning at 1.30am. A MultiSecurity reaction officer responded and patrolled the area but said the dogs were quiet. The client called back and said he heard gunshots and requested armed response to check the area again. The reaction officer assisted and reported that they did not see anything suspicious in the area.
- Fifteen minutes later, a client in Forest Hill drive contacted the MultiSecuirty control room. He reported that he saw three suspects running past the resident in the direction of Royal Port Alfred Golf Club. Although he did not give a clear description of the suspects, he observed that one suspect was carrying a panga and another one was carrying a crowbar. The reaction officer attended but could not find any trace of the suspects.
- In the early hours of Saturday morning a Port Alfred resident reported that a car had driven off the road and into the river. MultiSecurity reaction officers informed NSRI and the state ambulance at 2am. One of the reaction officers reported that the vehicle was a white Mercedes Benz that had landed upside down in the river. He also reported that the driver had escaped but sustained serious cuts in doing so. MultiSecurity was first on the scene followed by SAPS, the NSRI, Kowie Towing and the state ambulance. The reaction officer reported that he was unable to get the name of the driver before he was taken to hospital. Kowie Towing was unable to remove the car from the river and decided to come back when the tide was low.
- At 6am on Sunday morning burglars failed at a break-in Hancorn Lane. The MultiSecurity control room received a phone call from the client who requested armed response as there were intruders on the premises. MultiSecurity reaction officers informed and attended. The client said that the burglars tried to remove the kitchen window but ran off when they were spotted. SAPS attended and searched the area.
- In the early hours of Sunday morning a MultiSecurity reaction officer reported a driver under the influence in a white Citi Golf at Kowie Toyota garage. The reaction officer reported that the driver almost bumped into one of the fuel pumps, and he also threatened one of the fuel attendants that he was going to shoot him. The driver was later removed from the premises by the police.
- In Wiersma Road late on Sunday morning the owner of a business informed the MultiSecurity control room that he was checking his camera footage and he saw that there were four intruders in a blue Golf at the premises but that they left when the alarm went off.
- On Sunday, a MultiSecurity client reported a man harassing him at his residence in Boundary Road. A MultiSecurity reaction officer responded and said the man was intoxicated.
- Monday, the Nemato Spar manager requested armed response as he reported that a man wearing black clothes, white tekkies and a grey beanie had walked into the shop with a knife and tried to stab one of the employees. The workers managed to chase the man away. MultiSecurity responded but could not find any trace of the man.
- In the early hours of Wednesday morning a break-in occurred at Home Base in the Anchorage Mall. MultiSecurity control room received a phone call from SAPS who reported the incident and that a worker at The Penny Farthing saw someone smashing the glass door and promptly called SAPS. The suspect smashed the glass front door at the bottom on the right hand side to gain entry. The MultiSecurity reaction officer reported that the suspect crawled on the floor and took the cash out of the till as well as a small box containing silver jewellery.
