Knife-wielding men cause scare at school

THERE was a scare at Kuyasa Combined School in Nemato on Monday morning when three men walked into the school premises armed with knives.

A teacher called MultiSecurity control room, which in turn alerted their response officers and the police.

They caught one of the knife-wielding men, but no case was opened.

Gardmed ambulance responded and took the child to the Port Alfred Hospital.

A response officer made contact with the people in the vehicle and reported they were under the influence of alcohol. The Ford Figo they were driving was a government vehicle with Department of Labour insignia. The response officer told them to leave the premises and they left.

The burglars had gained entry by bending the burglar bars and forcing open a window at the main bedroom. They stole a computer monitor, flat screen TV, DVD player and Samsung phone.

A MultiSecurity response officer reported that they found some of the stolen goods in a nearby open field.

They could not contact the SAPS by phone or radio, but when a response officer went to the police station the police said they had a problem with their phone lines.

After the police still did not attend the scene, the client decided to go to the police station to open a case.

The burglars’ progress was foiled as a double garage door separates the two sections of the shop. Nothing was stolen.  Initially the client did not want to involve the SAPS, but when they found a hammer the burglars had left behind in the toilet, he requested the police.

However, the burglar(s) fled empty-handed.

But the burglar(s) did not gain entry to the premises and nothing was taken. Nevertheless a guard was needed at the premises because of the broken sliding door.

Though not their client, MultiSecurity responded when asked by the Ndlambe fire department.

The burglar had broken the office window to gain entry. The client came to look at the premises and cancelled a request for the police.

MultiSecurity and the police responded. They were able to identify the alleged thief who stole three cans of deodorant.

MultiSecurity said the front door was damaged and there was no electricity supply. Guido’s has been looking after the premises and the owner said the damage would be fixed.

MultiSecurity responded and patrolled the area, but could not find the man, who was described as wearing a light blue top.
