OFFERING a unique and specialised focus to repairs and maintenance on Mitsubishi and Mercedes vehicles, automotive specialist Daron Abercrombie recently opened Gem Auto in Port Alfred.
Abercrombie opened up shop about three months ago and has in the short time steadily grown his foothold in the Kowie.
Initially Abercrombie started his trade and interest in automotive works many years ago in Fort Beaufort and continued to develop – and grow – a passion and a niche for it since then.
More recently, he made the big move from Grahamstown nearer to his home in Port Alfred. For the past 22 years, Abercrombie had been working for Maritime Motors , where he became significantly specialised and managed to build up an irrefutable reputation as a specialist in the area.
After much success in Grahamstown, he felt it was time to cut the commute and open up shop in Port Alfred with his own venture. “I decided I wanted to work for myself and saw a need for my business in Port Alfred,” he said.
Since opening Gem Auto, Abercrombie has taken on Jarred Clur who also has experience working for Maritime Motors and brings with him his own set of expertise and skills, as well as Thembalani Yeko, who does general jobs in and around the shop.
Although Abercrombie’s focus is on non-warranty and maintenance plan vehicles under the Mitsubishi and Mercedes brand, he also takes on jobs within reason with other vehicles. “I believe in fixing something right the first time,” he said. “Above all else, the satisfaction of a happy customer is of top priority for me and my team at Gem Auto,” Abercrombie said.
The team at Gem Auto believes in limiting possible downtime for vehicles and, therefore, to complete simple jobs on the same day. “I have been living here for 10 years and it’s a wonderful community to be involved with. I look forward to offering a specialised service to new and old customers in the Ndlambe area and am excited about seeing the business grow to its potential.”
Gem Auto is situated in Albany Road and is open daily for consultation. For more information call 082-260-9369.
