NOTICE: Eye testing equipment outage at Port Alfred traffic department

CURRENTLY we are experiencing technical problems with our eye testing equipment (LCU) at the Port Alfred Driving Licence Testing Centre (DLTC).

This device has become faulty and we cannot perform any eye-tests as required for the applications for learner license, driving license and driving license renewals. We thus have to request the public to visit an optometrist where they should obtain an optometrist certificate before visiting the DLTC for any of the above applications.

Unfortunately the situation is beyond our control as we are not the custodians of the equipment in question and have to await the National Department of Transport to either repair or replace the LCU. We have informed the relevant authorities regarding the faulty equipment and after receiving a visit by a technician we were informed the faulty device would be replaced as soon as it becomes available.

We could not be given a deadline on when the device would be installed at our DLTC in Port Alfred.  We however can insure the public that we are in constant contact with the relevant authorities in order to have this situation remedied. We furthermore apologies for any inconvenience that may have been caused as a result of this technical problem.
