Let God beautify your mosaic

Inspirational Insights with Pastor Theo Snyman

“A MOSAIC is a piece of art or image made from the assemblage of small pieces of coloured glass, stone or other materials. It is often used in decorative art or as interior decoration” (Wikipedia).

Our lives are somewhat similar to a mosaic, with the final piece being placed at our passing away. Each phase and experience of life adds just one more fragment to the picture.

The bright colours represent the highlights of our lives, those pleasurable and memorable moments. If we have learnt to appreciate the small things in life our lives will be filled with many precious memories.

The darker shades represent the trials and hardships of life. Unfortunately, these are unavoidable and must be faced periodically. They are necessary though, for without them our picture would not be completed.

Only the Lord knows what the final picture ought to look like. Psalm 139:14-16 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

The present is what we experience; the past is gone and the future is not ours to see. We may not understand the “dark patches” in life, and that is all we see at the present, but it may be just another tiny picture required for our montage.

If we surrender fully to the will of the Lord, the shades He allows in our lives will culminate in a beautiful mosaic.
