LAST year local golfers at Royal Port Alfred Golf Club (RPAGC) did the community proud as they took back the title of king of the Five Royals tournament.

The guys to beat was winners of 2015, Royal Johannesburg and Kensington, who created a great upset at the time when they beat Royal Port Alfred in what was considered a close tournament.
This year the Royals celebrated its 28th year and as per tradition hosted by Port Alfred, was much anticipated by locals and visiting golfers alike. Some of the royal contenders have been visiting Port Alfred since the first tournament in 1989 when the tournament was first dubbed The Four Royals.
Players from all five Royals arrived on Friday in mild and warm conditions for the traditional flag-raising ceremony followed by the tree-planting ceremony. After breakfast golfers geared up and set off to the first round of the tournament. As per tradition players play the first day at Royal Port Alfred Golf Club and the second day at Fish River Sun. The final day on Sunday again will be hosted by Royal Port Alfred Golf Club.
