SEA RESCUE – Wednesday, 26th July. Port Alfred

Stephen Slade, NSRI Port Alfred station commander, said:

At 16h05, Sunday, 23rd July, NSRI Port Alfred duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from the boat C2 C2 with 4 local male crew onboard reporting motor mechanical failure off-shore of the Kowie River Mouth and requiring assistance to get into the harbour.

The sea rescue craft Rescue 11 Alpha was launched accompanied by a boat motor mechanic and on arrival on the scene the motor was not able to be repaired at sea.

Efforts to tow the boat in through the Kowie River Mouth were not feasible in the heavy swells and under darkness and the casualty boat was safely anchored and we took the 4 men to the harbour aboard our sea rescue craft.

They returned on Monday afternoon with boat motor repairmen and they made their own arrangements to have their boat towed in and they are handling repairs to her motors.
