WITH the current construction work taking place in Port Alfred, including the reshaping of the R72 through town, the Heritage Mall alterations and the resurfacing of many of the roads, the amount of refuse on the streets of Port Alfred has grown significantly over recent months.

Municipal spokesman, Cecil Mbolekwa, has made a plea to all residents to assist in keeping the town clean.

“Although the municipality has a responsibility to collect litter, and the Extended Public Works Programme workers are tasked with keeping the town and beachfront litter free, it is incumbent on all residents not to drop litter or, if they do, to pick it up. Please, let’s keep Ndlambe clean and litter-free,” asked Mbolekwa.
