THERE were cries of anguish as part of the roof of Pick n Pay at the Heritage Mall collapsed earlier today.

It has been reported that only two minor injuries were sustained in the incident.
Pick n Pay is doing all it can to make the roof secure, and engineers are at the scene to ensure the safety of customers at the store. The store will remain closed for the afternoon and the evening until engineers can safely secure the area.
“The peripheral wall behind the perishable department fell over, slightly injuring two customers. The store was closed to allow the engineers to investigate and declare the area safe for customers and staff, and to remove stock from the area to be cordoned off. Once the area is boarded up, it will be safe to resume trading. The store will reopen tomorrow morning at 6.30am as normal. We are very happy that no serious injuries occurred, and the cause of the incident will be investigated,” said Ian Hughes General Manager Pick n Pay Eastern Cape.
