Body recovered from Kariega river

SEA RESCUE – Kenton-On-Sea – Saturday, 28th October. NSRI assist Police in a body recovery operation:
Juan Pretorius, NSRI Port Alfred station commander, said:

At 07h39, Saturday, 28th October, NSRI Port Alfred duty crew were activated following reports from the SA Police Services of a suspected drowning in progress at the Kariga river, Kenton-On-Sea.

The sea rescue craft Rescue 11 Alpha was towed to the scene by our sea rescue vehicle.

The SA Police Services, a Police K9 search and rescue squad and Holistic ambulance services also responded.

On arrival on the scene, it was confirmed by Police that a body was reported floating on the Kariga river.

We launched our sea rescue craft and we recovered the body of a female from the river. The body of the female was brought to shore aboard our sea rescue craft.

The body of the unidentified adult female has been taken into the care of Police and the Forensic Pathology Services and Police have opened an inquest docket and are investigating.
