Ndlambe Music Festival is on again, with a little cash injection from Ndlambe ratepayers

NDLAMBE council confirmed it will help fund the Ndlambe Music Festival, despite assurances by event organisers, the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC), that no funding would be requested or required at its recent presentation to the full council.

The reasons given at Thursday’s council meeting were that the department has requested funding because bringing national artists (artists who perform before national audiences) is proving expensive. Further, DSRAC has asked that Ndlambe fund finding and developing three young artists from the Ndlambe area to perform at the music festival.

It appears that the council had budgeted R365 000 for the festival in this years’ budget and that, despite being withdrawn by council who were not in favour of a festival this year, the money was still available and would be used for the festival after all.
