IT seemed to be fairly quiet on the crime front over the past week, with few incidents reported by MultiSecurity.
- There was a break-in at a home in Stocks Avenue last Wednesday. MultiSecurity’s control room received a panic from the premises just after 7.30am and a response officer made contact with the tenant of a flat at the property.
Control room also informed SAPS by phone. The response officer reported a window had been broken at the back of house where there were no burglar bars. The police also arrived.
The keyholder arrived and checked the premises with the MultiSecurity officer but could not tell if anything was missing. The owner arranged with MultiSecurity to get someone to fix the window.
- A brazen shoplifter pushing a whole trolley full of goods out of the shop without paying was caught at Nemato Spar last Wednesday afternoon.
MultiSecurity responded to a panic signal from the shop, and found the police already on the scene.
The shoplifter, whose name is known MultiSecurity, was caught with stewing beef worth R105.44, bulk pork worth R111.34, braai wors worth R116.95, five Score paper towels, seven First Choice vanilla custards, one container of Super black dye, a cucumber, two packets of Aromat, 24 cans of Coke, four cans of Sparletta cooldrink,1kg of biscuits, three 440ml containers of Play, a lettuce, a 500g Spar honey and lemon juice.
Police opened a case of theft.
- Yet another truck got stuck on Albany Road hill last Wednesday night. Both Albany and Southwell hills have seen countless truck drivers stall, lose loads or even jackknife their vehicles on the steep bends.
A MultiSecurity response officer called in the incident and Port Alfred fire control was also informed. Traffic control later contacted MultiSecurity to say the truck was still stuck. A towing company was called to assist.
