A BODY was found floating in the Kowie River next to Wharf Street on Sunday afternoon. MultiSecurity informed the police. An ambulance and traffic police also attended.
The dead man was described as being between 40 and 50. The circumstances of his death are unknown. The body was taken to a local funeral parlour.
- There was an attempted break-in at a Biscay Road home late on Saturday night.
MultiSecurity response officers attended, along with the police. They found that the burglars had forced open two front windows and one burglar bar, but had not been able to get inside.
Nothing appeared to have been stolen.
- A Falcon Street resident pressed his panic button on Sunday morning and when MultiSecurity responded the resident complained about loud music being played by guests in the complex.
The response officer asked the guests to turn the music down, so they turned it off.
The resident approached the guests and asked them to leave the premises and it turned into a heated argument. The response officer asked his control room to get hold of the police to intervene.
The police attended as well as the owner of the premises.
- Stray cattle were reported in Bathurst Street on Sunday afternoon. MultiSecurity informed the police. Control room informed fire control and SAPS.
- A MultiSecurity officer on patrol reported a fire in the New Rest informal settlement on Sunday afternoon.
No one was in the house and no one was injured in the blaze, which was extinguished.
- A Seabreeze Drive resident called for assistance and pressed his panic button after seeing intruders on his property on Monday.
They did not gain entry and fled the scene. One intruder was wearing a red T-shirt and blue jeans and a grey T-shirt and blue jeans. The police also responded and MultiSecurity patrolled the area but couldn’t find anyone.
- There was a false alarm about a stolen vehicle at the indoor swimming pool last Saturday.
A woman called the MultiSecurity control room asking for armed response and SAPS as when he came out the indoor pool she saw that her car, a white Toyota Yaris, was gone.
Two response officers attended and others were informed and kept a lookout for the car. But then the woman remembered that she had gone to another premises to use the bathroom before she went to the indoor pool. The response officers went to the premises and found the car parked there.
- A bakkie collided with a motorcycle at the BP garage in Albany Road last Saturday afternoon. No injuries were reported.
- A MultiSecurity officer on patrol found an orange canoe floating in the Kowie River on Saturday night and took it to the police station. The owner was identified and reunited with his canoe.
