Kingswood girls triumphant at basketball tournament

Date:

THE Port Elizabeth Comets host an annual school tournament every September, but due to logistical problems, the 2017 tournament was postponed to January.

The Kingswood College U18 basketball girls’ team won the Port Elizabeth Comets Basketball Tournament recently

The tournament saw four girls’ teams compete in a round robin format, while eight U16 boys’ teams and eight U18 boys’ teams competed for honours.

The Kingswood girls 1st team have competed twice in the PE Comets Tournament, in 2015 and then this year. On both occasions the Kingswood girls’ team has won the tournament. The PE Comets won the U18 boys’ section with Kingswood College 1st team as the runners-up.

“Special congratulations go to Mwaka Machila, who was selected for the All Stars Team and Yonela Bukula (captain) who was selected as “MVP” of the U18 girls section. These young women could not have achieved these awards without the support of their teammates and coaching departments,” Kingswood spokeswoman Stephané Bouwer said.

“They beat DSG and Morningside convincingly to win the honours. A special thank you goes to our coach Mr X Kula.”
