Ndlambe Municipality has issued a notice advising that Kenton-on-Sea, Bushman’s River, Marselle and surrounding areas are encountering drastic water challenges due to drought and Eskom power outages.
Consequently the reservoir levels are critically low.
“The municipality together with its stakeholders has exhausted all options to alleviate these challenges, hence water restrictions were agreed to be implemented as follows,” municipal spokesman Cecil Mbolekwa said.
“The water supply will be shut down from 10am to 2pm (November 21 to December 7) and 10pm to 4am (continuously) in order to regain a healthy status on these reservoirs and in preparation for the festive season.”
He said the municipality would assist with water tankers to supply potable water to community members within all the above the affected areas, during the water restriction period.
“The municipality would also like to urge all community members to use water sparingly and encourage community member to invest in temporary water storage tanks,” Mbolekwa said.
