What started as a vision to build a guest feedback app for hospitality and accommodation industry in tourism, has grown into an international award winning business.
GuestRevu is an app for the hospitality industry, the application provides an easy way for accommodation providers to gather feedback from their guests, and then use that information to report and analyse performance over time, with trends, key performance indicators and operational insights to help them improve their services and grow their business.
The company was started in Port Alfred in 2014 with just a couple of staff, and has since grown to be an international company with about 30 employees working from South Africa and the UK, with clients in 48 countries, and new clients coming on board all the time.
CEO and founder Chris Alexandre said the app was specifically built for all accommodation providers across the world and they have hotels, B&Bs, boutique hotels, hostels, restaurants and serviced apartments among others using their product.
“From our office in Port Alfred, we provide sales, marketing, support and accounting, with a programming team working in Port Elizabeth, and additional sales and marketing functions from both Johannesburg and the UK. To date, we have gathered just over 8-million reviews for our clients, and this continues to grow each day.
“The application is web based and runs in the cloud so it is constantly available with real time reporting, KPIs, scores, and e-mail notifications being sent daily. And in addition, we are one of only five TripAdvisor Platinum Partners in the world (which is the highest level of accreditation) – the only one in South Africa,” Alexandre said.
The business was recently nominated for the prestigious HotelTechAwards for 2019 which were announced this month from their New York headquarters.
GuestRevu won awards in four different categories. The first two were a top 10 position in each of “The Best Places to work in Hotel Tech” (which aims to identify the best companies to work for in the industry), and “The HotelTechAwards People’s Choice” (which is their global overall ranking of companies in the industry). There were over 180 companies competing this year from all over the world. The other two awards were both product category awards – the number 1 product in the “Guest Surveys” category, as well as the number 1 product in the “Guest Reputation Management” category.
“These are all amazing awards for us to win, but we are particularly pleased with the number 1 spot in each of the product categories as they are a real testament to what our team has been able to create while competing on a global scale, and they are determined by our clients,” Alexandre said.
“To say that I am extremely proud of what we as a team have managed to achieve is an understatement. Achievements like this are not accomplished by one individual, but rather by a team – with committed and dedicated members, all focused on creating a product which is designed to deliver value to our clients.
